HEIN, based in Bech-Kleinmacher, is now one of the largest employers on the Luxembourg Moselle with 258 employees.
The management is made up of Mr. Jean-Pierre HEIN, General Manager, his daughter Cindy HEIN, Head of Human Resources, and Mr. Willy HEIN, Managing Director.
Hein - A family business with a history
The Hein company can look back on almost 100 years of tradition. The company was founded in Machtum in 1931 by Jean-Pierre Hein and his wife Madeleine Müller. While working along the Moselle, Jean-Pierre Hein recognized the potential of the sand and gravel deposits found there - and used this opportunity to extract and process the natural raw materials. This led to the creation of the first mobile screening and crushing plant, which was first operated in Stadtbredimus-Greiveldingen (Hüttermühle), later in Machtum and finally in Bech-Kleinmacher.
In the 1960s, the canalization of the Moselle brought about major changes. As further dredging was no longer possible, the Hein family decided to build their own quay wall on the current company site in Bech-Kleinmacher. This meant that sand, gravel and other building materials could now be imported by ship, transshipped and marketed in Luxembourg.
After Jean-Pierre Hein's death in 1960, his wife Madeleine Hein successfully continued the family business together with her sons Alphonse, André and Eugène.
Growth & diversification - The third generation
In 1979, Jean-Pierre Hein and Alphonse Hein took over the management and initiated an important change. They restructured the company and expanded the range of services. In addition to the sand and gravel business, they founded Transports Hein and Hein Déchets - two companies that form the foundation for the modern, broad-based group of companies.
Today - The fourth generation
Since 2018, Willy Hein, son of Alphonse Hein and active in the company for over 15 years, has been managing director of all three companies: Sablière Hein S.à r.l., Transports Hein S.à r.l. and Hein Déchets S.à r.l. He is supported by Cindy Hein, daughter of Jean-Pierre Hein, who has been part of the company as Head of Human Resources since 2021.
Jean-Pierre Hein will remain at the side of the company as General Manager and will support the new generation with his experience in an advisory capacity.
Tradition, innovation and family cohesion have characterized our company for almost a century - and are our driving force for the future.
